Officer James Hoback used deescalating tactics on a suicidal subject to peacefully negotiate a successful end to a crisis situation.
On May 18, officers responded to the 3800 block of Garrett Road for a call regarding a suicidal subject with a knife about 5:30 p.m.. A Saluda County deputy was injured and a suspect shot during a law enforcement operation involving both Saluda and Lexington County deputies Friday afternoon.
Deputies from both jurisdictions were serving an arrest warrant on Old Lexington Road in Lexington County around 4 p.m. when the unnamed suspect tried to flee, the Saluda County Sheriff’s office said in a news release. Shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday night, an Arlington Police officer was shot while assisting the Saginaw Police Department serve a felony arrest warrant for murder.

San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, as well as paramedics and good Samaritans, rescued an 80 year old mother and her 47 year old daughter from a submerged vehicle this past Thursday morning in Aztec, NM. A dump truck ran a small vehicle off the road and into an irrigation ditch, causing it to roll and sink in the churning waters. A Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy worked using available tools at his disposal to assist a member of the community who was despondent to a successful conclusion.
About 6 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a call of a man threatening to hurt himself after an argument with a female friend over relationship issues, YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn said. Police Officer Steven Meador responded to the Market Street Bridge where a distraught woman was ready to leap to her death. His quick thinking and fast actions saved her life.
The incident was recorded on the Officers vehicle dash camera and released along with the following description of the events. 7 year old cancer victim Darien Hoefling spent his time recovering from two emergency surgeries making bracelets for the men and women of the Mount Holly Police Department to honor them. The Officers in turn honored Darien in a very special way.
On Thursday Officers from The Mount Holly Police Department gathered to pay tribute in the most significant way that they could to the 7 year old that they have come to know as “Deej” a little boy who has inspired them and captured their hearts.
