During traffic stop, officer calms girl afraid of police

Father thanks local officer for calming his daughter during traffic stop

After her father was pulled over by a Texas police officer, a girl started to cry as she was in the car at the time. However, the girl was shocked to see what the officer had no intention of hiding – and her father had just two words for the cop after that.

Michael Harris was minding his own business when he was pulled over by Officer Mike Collins in Frisco, Texas. According to the cop, his department was doing DOT inspections that day and issued the man a citation for a violation on his truck.

Unfortunately, Michael’s 7-year-old daughter, Mikylie, was in the truck at the time and immediately started bawling after realizing that they were being pulled over. According to her father, she had become wary of police officers after seeing the recent shootings between police officers and members of the black community.

“She’s seen a lot of stories on the news and one time she asked me why black people and white people are killing each other, I didn’t know what to say,” Michael said. However, Officer Collins wasn’t about to let that slide and was not about to hide the fact that most police officers are good in nature and are merely looking out for the community.

After seeing that Mikylie was crying, Officer Collins immediately comforted the girl and showed her that she shouldn’t believe everything she’s told. Showing that cops aren’t as bad as the leftist media would have you believe, he then gave her a tour of his police cruiser and let her push a few buttons.

As one would imagine, Michael was more than appreciative of the time Officer Collins took out of his day to comfort his daughter and even snapped a picture during the exchange. He then posted it to Facebook with just two simple words for the officer, saying, “Thank you.”

“I don’t want her to feel that way about police,” he later said. “It meant a lot to see him take the time.”

As for Officer Collins, he couldn’t be happier that the situation turned out for the best even though he wasn’t expecting it at the time. “It was priceless. Hearing ‘Thank you for doing your job’ meant so much,” he said. “It’s a pleasure to see someone raising their children so well. It renews your hope in humanity. Mr. Harris is an excellent dad.”

Although the left would have you believe that police officers are abusive jerks with a bloodlust for power, that just clearly isn’t the case. Officers are loving members of the community who have families and just want to ensure that their own community remains safe. Personally, I don’t think it gets any better than that considering the sacrifices they’re willing to make each and every day.
