Officers were able to take time from normal duties to spend time with kids shopping and bonding with local kids at Target stores for Christmas.
Many photos were posted on Facebook from both the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and Pueblo Police Department highlighting the event where the kids were each given gift cards worth $150.00 to spend on items.
This is the fifth year that officers have participated in this event for underprivileged, deserving children. Officers, Troopers and Deputies participated in this shopping spree dubbed “Heroes and Helpers”.
The 40 children that participated were also given stuffed Christmas stockings and had their photos taken with their special “hero helper” as a remembrance of the occasion.
The Pueblo Police Department posted the following on their Facebook page regarding the event:
This morning marked our largest annual Heroes and Helpers program at Target. Members from the Pueblo Police Department, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, District Attorney’s Office, and Target all came together and volunteered to help 41 children in our community shop for a better holiday. Each child was presented with a $150.00 gift card for the shopping spree.
Without the contributions collected at the Ice Cup along with donations from Target, Frank Azar and Associates, St. Charles Community and Education Club, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, and Pueblo District Attorney’s Office this would not have been possible. Thank you to all who contributed and helped out to make this great event grow and continue on. #HeroesandHelpers
And Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office posted this:
This is what the season of giving is all about. Thanks to all of the PCSO Deputies who took time Saturday to go shopping with these cute kids. Your time was short but the memories for these kids will last forever!
