Raleigh, NC Officer, Suspect Injured in Gunfire After Break-In

Officer seriously injured, suspect in critical condition after southwest Raleigh shooting

An Officer responded to a report of a break in at about 2:45 P.M. at at 1230 University Court in the Lake Park Condominiums, off Lake Dam Road south of Avent Ferry Road.

Shortly thereafter reports that gunfire erupted and both an officer and suspect were shot.  Both were taken to WakeMed Hospital where they were being treated for their injuries. It was reported that the officer was wearing his vest and it is believed that the officer was shot in the vest area.

The Raleigh police officer is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is in critical but stable condition, police said Wednesday night.

Neither the officer’s identity nor the suspect’s identity was being released at this time.

The shooting incident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

The Raleigh Police Department will release more information within five working days as per department policy.
