The St. Louis police Department is reporting that an officer has been shot in south St. Louis. The shooting happened around 7:30 pm Sunday at Hampton Avenue and Pernod Avenue. The officer has been taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
The officer was sitting in his car at the intersection with the windows rolled up. A vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire at the police vehicle. Bullets broke through the glass and struck officer.

The Sgt. is reported to be married and the father of three children. There is no suspect in custody at this time. When he was shot he was able to radio for assistance.
