Alamogordo, NM Police Officer killed after responding to domestic dispute. Suspect dead

An official at the Alamogordo Police Department confirmed there was a shooting involving an officer.

Details were limited Friday morning, but the Alamogordo Police Department is scheduled to hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m.

The Alamogordo Daily News reports the shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. near South Florida Avenue and Santa Cruz Drive. The newspaper says New Mexico State Police and the Alamogordo Police Department are conducting the investigation.

KRQE News 13 has learned the suspect is dead. The family says that he was loved in a domestic dispute and when officers arrived, he shot them and the officer shot back killing the suspect.

There was no identification of the suspect or officer.

The family of the suspect did say that the one thing they wanted to say is how sorry they are to the officer’s family.

A lot of people in the trailer park are shaken by what happened.
