Minneapolis, MN. Police Activities League-PAL Spending summer with kids and Community

The Minneapolis Police Activities League-PAL is spending quality time with the kids of their community and the kids are loving it!

Officers from Minneapolis are being positive role models for kids in Minnesota and spending time with them in all kinds of outdoor activities that are being sponsored in part by community members and the Police Activities league.

Over the past several weeks Officers from Minneapolis have taken kids on bike rides, swimming and boating as displayed on the departments Police activities League Facebook page;

A partial showing of photographs and some of the descriptions of activities mentioned show that officers have been hard at work but enjoying it as they have been with kids of all ages from their jurisdiction.

The Post states that the Lake Calhoun Sailing School provided equipment for the kids to go sailing and get lessons for two weeks. The kids went biking, played miniature golf as well as swimming in just the past few weeks as well with officers. They are also preparing the kids for Football season and working hard with them every day. Some kids went to Nickelodeon Universe® and enjoyed rides sponsored by other community leaders like the Mall Of America.

Some notes read as follows in no particular order:

PAL kids were given the opportunity to attend sailing lessons for 2 weeks thanks to Lake Calhoun Sailing School!

PAL kids from the Brain & Body Summer Camp had a blast at Nickelodeon Universe®!
Thank you Brian Spielman, Director of Attractions at Mall of America, for donating the wrist bands to PAL so the kids could enjoy the rides!

Some of the PAL kids scored a picture with two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before we left for the day

Officers Monica, Steph, and Cheryl took their “Ladies of Summer” biking around Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. The girls survived the heat and humidity, and cruised around the lakes like a breeze.

Although it was a very hot and humid summer evening, the 5th Grade football team practiced harder than ever!

  1. Kudos to these MPD officers!

    Speaks volumes to their dedication and proves that their is so much more positive to share about the good police officers do, verses the media driven negative.

    1. These officers are going above and beyond their duty daily in these activities. Spending more time with these kids than they are with their own families. It takes a special person to dedicate so much time and energy everyday despite the constant negative media attention that they receive and so little support that they get to continue to do this work. They do it for the satisfaction of knowing what they are doing is right, that helping these kids, many of who will go bad, but hoping that they are saving a few in the future by doing these programs.

      The people of Minneapolis should be very proud of their Police officers and support them at every opportunity.

      1. Its cool but half the kids are police officers family and this does not mean these same police want shoot a unarmed black person… Its a cool thing th

        1. First of all, these are NOT officers family. They are kids from summer programs sent mostly from schools. Second, the reality is that “unarmed” black persons are usually tying to get to a police officers weapon or to another weapon to either kill someone or a police officer. Resisting arrest has consequences.

  2. This is an awesome program glad to see it’s still around my boys were apart of Pal when they were younger… They had an excellent mentor that’s still apart of their life now….
