Kids from Round Rock Texas had an experience of growth and learning from the Round Rock Police Department thanks to efforts from officers and sponsors from the community.
The week long program put on by Officers that allowed kids to make new friends and learn new skills challenging them to grow while they learned exciting and useful new things such as rappelling, and first aid.
The children did physical events like bicycle rodeos and calisthenics, swimming, races, obstacle courses and learned about some of the tools officers use like RADAR guns.
Children not only built their own self=-esteem but made friendships with other kids and officers while taking field trips to places like Camp Mabry in Austin, the Texas State Capitol and the Austin Zoo.
The Round Rock Police Department itself did not have funds to sponsor the Academy but rather relied on the donations from outside groups to make this all possible. It was sponsored by the following:
Academy Sports + Outdoors, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Austin Marriott North, Austin Police Department, Austin Zoo, Chick-fil-A of Round Rock, Corner Bakery Cafe, Red Dragon Print Design, Freddys Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Round Rock, Homewood Suites by Hilton of San Antonio, Round Rock Kiwanis Club, REI, Round Rock Express, Round Rock ISD, Round Rock Police Officers Association, Round Rock Fire Department, Round Rock Police Foundation, Sam’s Club, Seton Medical Center Williamson, Speedy Tacos & More, Texas Department of Public Safety, ThunderCloud Subs, United Heritage Credit Union, WAGABAG, 620 Cafe & Bakery, H-E-B plus!, Baylor Scott & White Hospital
