Jefferson Parish Deputy killed in shooting, 2 suspects wanted

Authorities in Louisiana say a deputy has been shot and killed after stopping a pedestrian on the street in a New Orleans suburb.

A Jefferson Parish deputy who was shot after making a “pedestrian stop” in Harvey on Wednesday has died after being shot, officials said. 

After the shooting, JPSO Col. John Fortunato said the suspect fled into the nearby Pebble Walk neighborhood.

Several people are being questioned, but no arrests have been made.

K-9 officers were at the scene as well as helicopters, scouring the area for the suspects.

The deputy was rushed to University Hospital. Officials said he died about 1:40 p.m.

Authorities are looking for two suspects. One suspect is described as a black man wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts. The other suspect is described as a white man wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts.

The shooting happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Manhattan Boulevard and Ascot Road.
