A sheriff’s deputy and at least one other person were shot, and a suspect is still on the loose Thursday night after law enforcement responded to reports of an active shooter near the Landen Kroger on Jonathan Lane, according to dispatchers.
The injured female deputy was reportedly awake and talking after being transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center. She was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance around 9:45 p.m. when, upon deputies’ arrival, the suspect opened fire, according to Warren County Sheriff’s Lt. John Faine.
“We responded to a domestic situation tonight,” said Lt. John Faine with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. “During that situation, a deputy from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was shot. The deputy is conscious and alert now.”
Faine said the female deputy was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is in stable condition.
A second person was also shot. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries
The Deerfield Township Fire Department tweeted about the situation around 10 p.m. Thursday night.
The supervisor for Warren County dispatch also confirmed authorities were searching for an “active shooter” suspect in the area around the Kroger. “The suspect is still at large and believed to be armed. He’s a 19-year-old Middle Eastern male with a green baseball cap on that says ‘O’Reilly Auto Parts,'” Faine added.
Helicopters and K-9 units have been called to the scene to assist in the search.
