Suspect arrested for shooting Harris Co, Ga. Deputy during traffic stop

It has been confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy. The investigation continues.

Sheriff Heath Taylor of Russell County, AL. confirmed that one suspect was in his custody at the Russell County Jail for charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and as a fugitive from justice just hours after Deputy Jamie White had been shot in the head while making a traffic stop. 

Joe Lee Garrett, 24, turned himself in to a Phenix City Police investigator on Saturday night according to Sheriff Taylor.

Sheriff Jolley of Harris County said three people were inside the car when the incident happened on I-185 southbound near exit 34. No further arrests have been made at this time and the incident is still under investigation.

Deputy White is said to be recovering from his injuries there is no further word on his progress or the extent of his injuries. He was shot in the head above his eye and underwent procedures at Midtown Medical Center.
