Harris County, GA. Sheriff’s Deputy shot in head during traffic stop

Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley says the incident happened during a traffic stop early Saturday evening.

A Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering after being shot in the head Saturday evening. Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley Stated. 

Deputy Jamie White was shot just above the left eye during a traffic stop around 6 p.m. The deputy stopped an armed driver around Mile Marker 33 on I-185.

Witnesses did stop to help the deputy. He suffered a single shot in the face, above his left eye.

Sheriff Jolley says Deputy White is expected to recover. Georgia State Patrol officers and Harris County officials are currently searching for the gunman. Investigators are looking for a 1974 Blue Chevrolet Caprice with an Alabama Tag: 57CL161. They say this is the car that was involved in the shooting. Anyone who sees a vehicle matching this description should call law enforcement immediately.

Sheriff Jolley says Deputy Jamie White has served in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for more than two years. He previously served in North Georgia before being recommended to come down to Harris County.
