Authorities searching for man who shot officer on Rosebud Reservation

Authorities are pursuing a suspect who allegedly shot and wounded a tribal officer in western South Dakota.

The shooting happened early Wednesday morning, according to FBI spokesperson Kyle Loven. A Rosebud Tribal Officer was shot and wounded by a man on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, the incident happened about 1:30 a.m… The circumstances haven’t been released. 

The officer was being treated for his injuries and was listed in stable condition. His name wasn’t immediately released.

Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement has identified the suspect as Linn Crossdog.

Loven says agents are in the process of apprehending the suspect. He says while there is always a concern for public safety in situations like this, he does not believe there is a direct threat to the public.

The officer is in stable condition, and is currently being treated for his injuries.
