On April 30, 2016 at 8:17 pm a male walked into the parking lot at Police Headquarters carrying a molatov cocktail, ignited the device and smashed it against the side of a marked patrol vehicle parked in the lot. Officers at H.Q. extinguished the fire and found the male standing in the parking lot. When the officers asked the male if he saw who started the fire, he told them he did because he wanted to go to jail. The patrol vehicle, a 2015 Ford Explorer, sustained only minor damage. When the investigation was completed, Jose E. Rodriguez (28), a resident of the unit block of S. Sussex Street, was charged with aggravated arson, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and criminal mischief. He was later remanded to Camden County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.
