Martin County, Fl. Sheriff’s Office Deputy makes a friend who takes a special oath

Deputy, Bonnie Garland was impressed with 5 year old Wallace Jefferson when he visited the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and swore him in, during a very special ceremony.

Making bonds and connecting with children leaves a lasting impression, this is a fine example of that in action.

The Martin County, Fl. Sheriff’s Office posted the following to their Facebook page:

JUNIOR DEPUTY PROMISES TO BE GOOD AND KEEP HIS ROOM CLEAN

On Friday, April 9th, Dannette Weaver-Jefferson and her 5-year old son, Wallace Jefferson, came to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office for some advice from our Desk Deputy, Bonnie Garland. While Deputy Garland was speaking with Dannette, her son, Wallace, was so well behaved, that Deputy Garland asked him if he would like to be sworn in as a Junior Deputy.

His oath was a little different. He had to promise to be good to his mom, do well in school, help others, and keep his room clean. He agreed to his oath and Deputy Sheriff Bonnie Garland swore in Wallace Jefferson as the Martin County Sheriff’s Office newest Junior Deputy. Pictured here is Deputy Garland as she swears in Wallace, while his mom, Dannette, looks on with pride.

We hope to see him in the law enforcement academy when he grows up.
