UPDATE Columbus, OH. police officer shot, suspect in custody

From the earlier story of Saturday evening when officers from the Columbus Police Department attempted to execute a Warrant on an individual located at 14 California Avenue. 

A S.W.A.T. officer had been shot attempting to execute the search warrant. The officer has been identified and his condition has been updated as follows:

*UPDATE: 11AM 4/11/16 Wounded SWAT Officer Identified

Columbus Police SWAT Officer Steven M. Smith remains in critical condition at OSU Wexner Medical center. His family, friends and a Columbus Division of Police chaplain remain by his side.

SWAT Officer Smith was shot early Sunday morning while working with fellow officers to serve an arrest warrant at 14 W. California Avenue.

SWAT Officer Smith has served with the Columbus Division of Police for 27-years. He is 54 years old.

*Be advised that the Columbus Division of Police has two officers named Steven Smith.
