A Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy by the name of Wade Carlan observed a homeless man on his way home from a detail. Just stopping to check on another person and seeing the man’s plight, he decided to pay it forward out of his own pocket. A heartwarming story
On his way home from a detail Saturday night Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy Wade Carlan stopped at the Tom Thumb on U.S. Highway 98 and U.S. Highway 331. While at the store he noticed a man sitting outside in the cold and approached to check on him. After learning this man had no where to go Deputy Carlan returned to the South End WCSO Substation and located a blanket. He also went inside the Tom Thumb and personally purchased a variety of foods. The man also had a small injury to the hand, but did not want medical attention. Instead, Deputy Carlan used his first aid kid to help with the man’s ailment.
