New Castle County Police Department Reports on their social media page the following: K9 Monty Locates Suicidal Subject

Last night (03/21) around 9:47 pm, New Castle County Police responded to a residence in the Newark area for the report of a suicidal subject. The 911 caller advised that a friend told him that he was going to the C and D Canal and was going to walk into the water and kill himself. Units responded to the subject’s residence but were not able to locate him. Multiple units then responded to the C and D Canal banks and were eventually able to locate the subject’s abandoned vehicle in the area of N. Saint Georges. K9 Handler M/Cpl. S. Donahue and his K9 partner, Monty, responded to the vehicle and began a track. The dog tracked towards the canal banks and then along the canal about 20 yards before coming upon the subject underneath the St. Georges bridge. The subject was subsequently transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Great job Monty!
