Fort Worth Police Department – Update on Officer Pearce

Forth Worth Police Department has issued the following statement on Officer Pearce who was shot by fugitives.

Update on Officer Pearce.

Thank you to all for your incredible support and please continue to pray

Officer Pearce remains in critical condition in the ICU at this time – he is an incredible fighter. Doctors say it is a good sign that he made it through the night and every hour that passes is in his favor. He remains heavily sedated surrounded by his family.

The JPS staff has been incredible (as always) along with all our Fort Worth family. The residents of Fort Worth continue to be the best in the country and we thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support.

We would also like to thank the multiple state, local and federal agencies that assisted with yesterday’s search for an extremely dangerous suspect. Their partnership and immediate response was invaluable.

Officer Mathew Pearce has been with the Department since 2009, he has a wife and two young children. Matt is almost always seen smiling and ready with a joke. He is strong, brave and a great friend. Matt epitomizes what it means to be a Fort Worth Police Officer.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up by Officer Pearce’s family:
