Portland, Or. Officer pays it forward to pregnant homeless woman

March 3, 2016 Portland, Or. Police Department posted this heartwarming photo of this officer helping a needy woman with the following:

Officer Jason Jones talks to pregnant woman who is homeless about proper nutrition and medical care for her baby. After hearing concerns from area businesses and residents in the Parkrose area, Officer Jones formed a pilot project that brings together City of Portland resources, the Parkrose Neighborhood Association, Parkrose Business Association Historic Parkrose and St. Matthews Episcopal Church to address issues surrounding the homeless camps. The coalition began holding ongoing listening and planning sessions of all involved. Recognizing the need for proper sanitation, the group coordinated garbage service and sharps containers at several homeless camps. An upcoming phase of the plan will be to hold a social services fair.
