Kentucky State Police Partner With Area Group to Aid Local Veterans

February 26, 2016 The Kentucky State Police are working with an established group of long time quilters who have taken up the cause to help local veterans. The Kentucky River Area Quilt Makers is a group that was established a few years back of people from the state that have talent in making quilts by hand. They showcase these fine linens that are not only beautiful but warm as well. Many are gifted to local area veterans, however some vets are disabled or on limited budgets.

Quilt maker Audrey Combs, who is also the mother of a state trooper, suggested that quilters call the KSP post when they finish a quilt that is to be given to a veteran. The quilt can then be delivered by a Trooper to it’s recipient. The State Police have been only too  happy to provide this service.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to assist our veterans and the elderly residents in this area,” advised Captain Blake Slone with KSP Post 13. “We look forward to this partnership and the positive results we believe it will have for everyone involved.”
