February 25, 2016 Milwaukee, Wi. Police had drives through the early winter season to collect as much food, clothing an other necessities as they could to help the homeless in their area. Today was another day that the Milwaukee Police Department Homeless Outreach team partnered with Roundy’s to distribute the items that they have collected so far.
Although the team was able to provide temporary fixes today such as food, clothing and blankets their goal is to help people who are without any support find resources that are more permanent.
There are approximately 1,400 homeless people living in the greater Milwaukee area. Many of them are in and out of shelters, but about 300 are without any shelter at all.
To date since September of 2015 the team has been able to house about 100 people. Their ultimate goal is for all people who have no shelter at all to have someplace to call home.
From the Milwaukee Police Department’s Facebook page they posted the Following information along with some photos of today’s event.

Winter can be especially challenging for the homeless and MPD’s Homeless Outreach Team is committed to helping those most in need. Local media followed along with officers as they handed out the boxes provided by Roundy’s to those at an area warming shelter.
Thanks to Roundy’s for being a great corporate citizen and helping out those in need!
