Country Singer Miranda Lambert Backs the Blue in Lindale, Texas

Lindale, Texas Police recently lost one of their K-9’s named Ogar. Ogar was a 2 ½ year old Belgian Malinois who had served with the department for 1 ½ years and was certified in Search and Rescue, Narcotics and Attack and Protection. The K-9 was killed in the line of duty.  Ogar’s handler and partner Constable Kevin Petty found him dead in the woods where he had been tracking a person who had fled after being pulled over from a traffic stop.

The suspect was later apprehended and charged with second degree felony evading, drug possession and illegal possession of a firearm. His bond is set at $300,000.00

Country Singer Miranda Lambert who has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year from the Academy of Country Music and whose recent album ‘Platinum’ has gone Platinum is already an animal lover herself. She has a foundation called ‘MuttNation Foundation‘ that rescues animals from kill shelters.

Upon learning about the cost associated with K-9’s for Departments the entertainer has graciously contributed to help in deferring the cost associated in replacing Ogar.

Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation has set up a fund for Lindale Texas’ beloved K-9 officer Ogar, who lost his life in the line of duty on January 19, 2016. K-9 Ogar was shot and killed while attempting an apprehension of a subject who was in a stolen automobile in Lindale, Texas. Ogar was tracking one of the 3 subjects in a wooded area when he was shot. K-9 officer Ogar was utilized throughout East Texas on many law enforcement cases. Ogar, along with his handler Deputy Constable Kevin Petty, assisted in drug seizures, search and rescues as well as suspect apprehensions. The 2 ½ year old Belgian Malinois, served with Smith County Precinct 5 for 1 ½ years and was certified in Search and Rescue, Narcotics and Attack and Protection. Join MuttNation Foundation as we help raise funds to assist in the acquisition of another K-9 Officer for Smith County Precinct 5. All funds received through February 22nd, 2016 will be dedicated to this cause.
