BREAKING: 1 Officer Dead, 3 Wounded in Mississippi Shooting

February 20, 2016 Tishomingo County, MIssissippi. An early morning standoff in the northern part of the State has left one officer dead, 3 wounded and a suspect dead in Mississippi. Office James Lee Tartt,  44-year-old Mississippi who is believed to have worked for the Bureau of Narcotics was murdered during an exchange of gunfire. His assailant Charles Lee Lambert, 45 was killed at the scene as well.

Three other Officers were not yet identified but were wounded. Their condition is not known at this time.

There was a standoff in the town of Iuka, Mississippi where a woman and younger girl were inside a residence as well. Both females are believed to be alive at this time.

It is unknown what the cause of the disturbance was at this time other than local authorities had called for a State SWAT team to respond to the Iuka residence where the incident occurred at approximately 13:30 A.M. E.S.T..
