Brookfield, Ct. Police K-9 Assists Officers in Locating Endangered/Suicidal Juvenile

February18, 2016 The Brookfield, Ct. Police Department received a call about a 17 year old female that may have been suicidal. After verifying the complaint Officers commenced a search along with a K-9 team with outstanding results in 30 minutes. They released the following News Release:

Brookfield, CT – On February 17, 2016 at approximately 11:28 pm Brookfield Police officers were dispatched to the area of 540 Federal Road on a report of a suicidal, 17 year old, female juvenile who had just run off into the woods.

First arriving officers determined the suicidal threat to be credible, established a perimeter, and secured the last seen location of the juvenile.

With temperatures in the 20’s and wind chills making it feel even colder, Officers on scene recognized the immediate need for Police K-9 assistance, and requested Brookfield Police K-9 Bruno to the scene.

Canine Bruno and his handler, Sgt. Jeff Osuch, arrived on scene, and within fifteen minutes the team successfully tracked and safely located the juvenile – several hundred yards away from her last known location, hiding behind a local business.

The juvenile was taken to Danbury Hospital by emergency medical service personnel from the Brookfield Vol Fire Dept., and the incident was cleared at 12:09 am.
