February 14, 2016 Clarksdale, Ms. At approximately 8:59 P.M. on February 13, Corporal Derrick Couch of the Clarksdale Police Department was shot as he was investigating a robbery. The Officer was investigating a robbery located in the Corner Grocery at the intersection of Second Street and Sunflower in Clarksdale.
It was reported that he was shot in the face by one of the two suspects of the robbery as he approached the suspects. The Officer was left in the street and found by Officers who transported him to a local hospital. He was stabilized for his injuries before being airlifted to the River Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he is now listed in critical condition.
Clarksdale Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are still searching for the two men suspected of robbery and shooting the Corporal. They have released the following video footage in hopes that someone in the general public may recognize the suspects and come forward to help identify them.

Corporal Couch has been an officer with the Clarksdale Police Department since December 2011. He has been a part of the Special Operations, Community Police and Patrol divisions of the Clarksdale Police Department. The Officer worked for the Tunica County Sheriff’s Department before working for the Clarksdale Police Department.
