Clarksdale, Ms. Officer shot in the head during robbery

February 14, 2016 Clarksdale, Ms. Police Officer shot in the  head during robbery.  CNN affiliate WMC reported that a Clarksdale, Ms. Police Officer who was on Patrol was responding to a robbery at the Corner Grocery store at the corner of Sunflower Avenue and Second Street.

Apparently two men robbed the store and after they did the two clerks who were working ran out the back door. The two suspects exited the front with the money that they had stolen from the store and confronted the Officer. One of the suspects was armed with a weapon.

During the confrontation between the Officer and suspects the Officer was shot in the head. The two suspects left him in the street in front of the store. The shooting occurred approximately five blocks from his Police station.

The Officer was found by other Officers and was transported to a local hospital where he is underwent emergency treatment. He was transported to Regional One by 10:00 by helicopter and family members were brought to the trauma center by Coahoma County.

The crime occurred on February 13, 2016 at about 8;57 P.M.

The Clarksdale Police Department has not named the officer.
