January 22, 2016 Los Angeles, California Police Officer Kristina Tudor has taken up a challenge to wear full tactical gear weighing almost 1/3 of her body weight (35 pounds of her 110 pound frame) and run a marathon of 26.2 miles to support the community in raising funds for the Badge of Heart organization. The Badge of Heart Organization founded by Police Officer Ken Lew helps individuals that Police officers meet that have been victimized by crime, are suffering from personal loss or are traumatized in the Los Angeles area as well as providing assistance to the needy of the area.
Last year the organization provided 500 families with Thanksgiving meals who would otherwise have been without. They hope to do even better this year as well as helping 1,000 families with basic school supplies for children who can not afford necessities. They also hope to assist with scholarships in the future to well deserving members of the community who already pay it forward themselves.
Officer Tudor has begun to train wearing her vest, boots, gun belt, helmet and all equipment hat it carries in place. The marathon is scheduled to run on February 14, 2016.
Officer Tudor ran the same marathon last year however she wore her full duty uniform to bring attention to the profession and for another cause.
