  1. Why doesn’t the cop do his job?
What about the neighbor’s who are annoyed by the noise?
Also it’s against the law in most places to play ball in the street.
I bet the people that called the police aren’t really happy with this.
    Neither am I

    1. The Officers job is to protect and serve, uphold laws and use discretionary powers.
People complain about all kinds of things, if there was an actual noise ordinance then there may be an issue, however most such ordinances only apply after the hours of 9 P.M. and before 7 A.M. in certain jurisdictions Again, this will change from area to area.
It may be against the law to play ball in the street in some places, in others it may not. We do not know if this was one of those areas.

The idea that the officer did not stop the kids from playing ball should not bother anyone. What should be appreciated is the fact that the officer took time to learn who the kids are, know them by name and gain their trust rather than just appear to be an authority figure to them. Letting the kids play ball, knowing who they are, where they are and being able to talk to them is far more valuable then arresting them on a minor infraction and having them forever hating the police, homeowners, neighbors and eventually taking it out on the neighborhood.
