The child had stopped breathing Saturday and Vercheesa was unable to do anything for the child. , “I was scared, I was worried and she wasn’t responding and her brother’s screaming like, ‘please, please, Kyeesha, wake up.'” she told WFXT
Vercheesa called 911 and talked with a dispatcher who was trying to gather information when she had an idea she told the news station “I laid her down. I said let me run outside and flag one of these police officers down,” apparently Police cars are constantly on her street and Saturday night was without exception. She was able to find one almost immediately.
A two car Patrol was driving by and Officer Vladimir Levichev and 14-year veteran officer Thuan Lai immediately stopped to help Vercheesa. “Please pull over, please, my daughter, she’s not breathing,” she said. “Right away, they stopped the car in the middle of the street run up,” she said. “They didn’t freak out, panic. They just ran right to her, right away, you know, got the CPR, everything. Right away. It was beautiful,” she said.
The Officers were interviewed by WXFT and were very happy that they were able to assist the child. With a smile across his face Officer Lai recalled the moment that the child started breathing again saying he thought “Somebody is gonna have a 5th birthday,”
