The funeral arrangements are considering that approximately 10,000 people will attend the memorial service, 8,000 of that number being Law Enforcement Officers from across the nation to show support for the officer, his Department, family, friends and the Blue Line.
The Airline company JetBlue is offering free flights to law enforcement agencies and police departments that wish to send representatives to the memorial services for Officer Barney. If you are interested in booking a flight to the service call JetBlue 1-800-JETBLUE and refer to the Fallen Public Service Professional Accommodation Guidelines. Travel must be booked over the phone.
One of the most tragic points of this entire incident is that the Officer had recently fought a battle with cancer and survived. He was working overtime to pay off his own medical bills and his entire goal was to get to retirement to enjoy his life when he was murdered on duty.
