On January 5, 2016 Grand Rapids, Michigan Police are called upon to deal with problems every day. Sometimes they are life threatening and terrifying for people. It is during these times that Officers do their best to safeguard the public and protect all involved from the people causing the problems to the innocent bystanders. Here is a womans story named Allison Williams who witnessed an event and wanted to than the Grand Rapids Police Department for the compassion of their officers.Well, it’s not every day you witness a police standoff. It happened today as I was getting the boys out of the car, heading for the Children’s Museum. We hid behind our car, as the police, with their weapons drawn, surrounded the man who refused to take his hands out of his coat pockets and was yelling, “Kill me now! Kill me now!”. They ultimately handcuffed the man and nobody was hurt, thank God! I’m grateful for the GRPD, as they seemed to handle the situation competently, and for this wonderful officer who told us when it was safe to come out and comforted my 2-year-old who was a bit shaken and confused. I hesitated to post this, but wanted to share something positive about our awesome men and women in blue! Thanks for keeping us safe!!
