January 9,. 2016 Grand Rapids, Michigan Christmas presents have been unwrapped for weeks and the new year has begun. Kids are back in school and the excitement is over yet one family is still excited about meeting a Grand Rapids Police Officer named Ben Hawkins over the holiday.
On December 22, 2015 Theresa Floyd was walking down the street with her three children when she was stopped by Officer Hawkins. Being new to the City of Grand rapids she was nervous about the encounter until she realized the Officers intent. He was there to spread some Christmas cheer and Holiday spirit.
Upon seeing the children the Officer quickly produced stuffed animals, hats, gloves, and candy for the children from his Police car like Santa delivering Christmas treats from his sleigh.
Fox17 reports that Floyd stated: It was a moment that she would never forget and one that her kids are still talking about having been so excited to meeting a Police officer. The event made Christmas extra special for her and her children this year and that they continue to talk about that surprise to this day.
Encounters like this will leave a lasting impression in a sea of Blue.
