On December 31, 2015 in La Vista, Neb. Just minutes before midnight Carla Hunter was with her 5 week old daughter when a mothers worst nightmare happened. The baby stopped breathing and the child was bleeding from the nose. Hunter called 911 and began CPR but the child was limp and not responding.
Officer TJ Jacik, and Officer Steve Walter responded to the cal. According to WOWT Officer Jacik said “When we arrived the baby was limp not reacting to anything at that point, Our training just kicked in automatically and got us through the situation.”
Hunter said “They came right back they saw her right on the floor they went right into action they picked her up put her over on my bed, Honestly I thought she was going to die. Honestly, because I’ve never seen anything like that before. I thought I lost her,”
The baby who’s name is Faith was transported to the hospital but is back home with her mother now and doing fine thanks to efforts from everyone involved from 911 dispatchers to the two officers who arrived on the scene and the fire crew who took her to the hospital.
Hunter said “If they did not show up when they did I don’t think I would have had the outcome I had; which is right here in my arms,”
