December 4, 2015 The New York State Police have launched what they have dubbed “Operation Tinsel and Tape Recovery” in the Watertown, Jefferson County area. Working in conjunction with the Trooper Foundation and PEACE Inc. to provide presents to about 130 families in the County of Jefferson for the Holiday season. The New York State Police are looking for a bit of help though.
They are requesting assistance from people in the form of wrapping paper, trim and tape for wrapping the presents that they have already.
The public can drop off wrapping paper, ribbon and tape at the office of Salmon Run Mall (by the movie theaters) or at the state police barracks north of Watertown on Route 37, Monday and Tuesday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Trooper Xaymara Morales spoke with (WWNYTV) Fox28 and said that Volunteers from local school districts will wrap the gifts December 12 at the Bruce Wright Conference Center in Watertown.
This is not the first year that the N.Y.S.P. have involved themselves inthe spirit of giving, it is however the first year that they have begun a program in Jefferson County and hopefully it will be as successful as it has been in the past in Utica and Syracuse for the people that they have served.
