Winter Haven Officers responded to a call regarding the theft of a bicycle on Nov. 3. The victim, who is homeless, had been taken by ambulance to Winter Haven Hospital for a medical emergency while he was at the W.H.A.T. terminal on Oct. 28. The EMS personnel reported that they locked the bike for the patient. When he got out of the hospital, he returned to the terminal to find his bike had been stolen.
The victim didn’t report the theft, but as he was in front of McDonald’s on 6th St., he saw someone ride by on what he thought was his bike. At that point, he called Police in hopes officers could locate his bike. Although officers canvassed the area, they were unable to locate the bike.
Officers Farewell, Nash, Lebreton and Dickinson pooled their money together and purchased the victim, Sylvester Thomas, a bike, lock, and lights.
