November 23, 2015 from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office facebook post

Great job JSO Officer Jose Gonzalez! Caring for people means so much to them AND others.

Ms. Newby writes:

“This Officer, car #434 did something really unexpected today. He turned on his lights and followed a younger women into the Gate Station. Obviously, I assumed she did something to be pulled over for. But, He put down his window and asked “Do you have money for gas?”. She said “no” and the Officer said “that’s not good” and handed her a few bucks. Appeared she had run out of gas while trying to pull in. Was nice to see. Thanks JSO #434.”

We tracked down the story. Officer Gonzalez actually pushed her vehicle from the Atlantic Blvd off ramp from northbound I295 after she advised she ran out of gas. When he got her to the station, he found out she had no money.

Great job Officer Gonzalez! Way to shine.
