Chippewa Falls, Wi. Officers assist 64 year-old resident of Nursing home and make a friend

According to the Chippewa Falls Police Department Facebook page on October 25, 2015 a 64 year-old resident of a local group home had walked away and his safety was a concern to the facilitators of the home.  Officers Hakes and Checkalski responded to the home and took information on the resident and began their search for him.

The two officers located the resident on the street approximately one and a half miles away from the home where they spoke with him. The man refused to get in a Police car and accompany them back  to the residence.

However the officers were able to talk with him and the man finally agreed to walk back to the home with the officers who took the one and a half mile journey on foot with him including several rest brakes to ensure the residents health.

One officer followed while the other drove behind and captured the moment on a camera. The resident decided that he really liked the officers and enjoyed ‘walking and talking with them”.
