October 4, 2015 Santa Ana, Ca. Alejandra Rodriguez was to celebrate her quinceanera a very special day for a young lady coming of age in many cultures. Especially for Alejandra who had a heart transplant and is now battling cancer. She had a dream to one day be a Police Officer and also dance with one.
Members of the Santa Ana Police Department who not only work in the community but want to thrive WITH the community were only to happy to be part of the event.
Santa Ana Police Cmdr. Jose Gonzales told ABC7 news “We jumped at the chance. Absolutely it’s something we could do, It’s a small token, a small symbol we could show to her, to her family. You know, we are also members of this community and we’re proud of the fact that she wanted to dance with a law enforcement officer. So, we didn’t just bring one, we brought two!”
Alejandra was surprised by the Officers appearance she told ABC7 when she saw the officers that she thought the Police arrived to tell the celebrators to turn down the music but it was early yet. She was happily surprised to find that they had arrived not to tell her to turn down the music but that they had come to have the honor of a dance.
