Simpsonville, S.C. Police Department Stands with a 6 year old Hero

August 23, 2015 Simpsonville Police Department made the wish of a 6 year old boy named Peyton Gesing who is battling with cancer come true.

Peyton Gesing’s dream was to be a hero, a Police Officer like he sees on Television. However his bravery in the face of his cancer has inspired Officers from Simpsonville to be courageous in their daily lives. To them he is already a hero and they wanted to make sure that he knew it.

They presented him with a Uniform, shield, duty belt with a toy gun and plastic handcuffs. he trained with them on helping citizens and making an arrest. He took his oath of office making him an Honorary officer for the day.

He was even promoted up through the ranks of Investigator.

“Today I’m blessed to have to opportunity to not only fulfill a dream of his to be a hero, but also a dream of mine to be able to stand here in front of an even braver young man the way he fights against his cancer,” Keith Grounsell told Foxcarolina.com

“He’s just a fighter and he has gone through more stuff than a lot of people I know,” Peyton’s mother Suzanne Gesing said.

“He motivates us,” Chief Keith Grounsell said. “I mean, what do we have to complain about when a young man is going through the things he’s going through?”
