September 19, 2015 Kirsten Mundell would be married without her father being present. He was a Deputy Sheriff named Walter Mundell who was killed in the line of duty in 2009. Kristen would not be walked by her father down the isle or have her father and daughter dance with him. However she was not alone and some people made sure she knew it.
In lieu of her father walking her down the isle she was escorted by Seattle Police Det. Don Jones to her fiance to be married.
When it came time for the Father and daughter dance something unexpected happened. Four officers came in one by one for the honor of dancing with her in her fathers place. Nobody knew that they would be appearing, or that they would all in turn take her hand to dance with her.
The photographer of Angela Lyons Photography was so touched by the moment’s he witnessed he posted them on Facebook for all to see stating:
“* I would like to add a heartfelt thank you to all who have commented with loving words. Kirsten and her family are seeing them all and I know the kindness means a great deal. And thank you to the many news stations for sharing this story and bringing awareness to the impact such tragedy has on the families. I think it’s easy to forget that officers are real people who put their lives on the line – literally, even getting coffee in a coffee shop – for all of us: people they do not even know. I am so touched to see that the LEO family takes care of each other.
And Cody: I’m so happy Kirsten found you. You are quite an upstanding gentleman. She will never dance alone.”
